10 Of The Best Calisthenics Physiques
As well as its super-human strength, calisthenics is known as a go-to training method for a ripped body. Six-pack, bulging biceps, and a huge chest; these athletes have them all. Despite this, the majority of the list didn’t get into calisthenics for a better body; in fact, it was their passion for bodyweight exercise.
It’s also worth mentioning that every athlete puts in years of hard work, dieting, and discipline to achieve physiques like these. So, if improving your body is your driving motivation, be patient and use these as inspiration.
Chris Heria
Hidden under Chris Heria’s tattoos are a broad set of deltoids that sit symmetrically on his body. While dieting would have had an influence, this is largely a consequence of the immense amount of upper body strength workouts he does, such as planches, handstand push-ups, and 90-degree push-up holds.
He has well-proportioned arms with bigger biceps than average calisthenics athletes. This is most likely a result of using a hybrid calisthenics workout program.
Moving down towards his abdominals, you can clearly see his ripped six-pack with no ink on it. We would argue this is his best feature, though it may just be because it pops out more compared to his tatted muscles.
Not only does he have a chiseled upper body, but his legs are as impressive. He often displays them on his ‘how-to’ tutorials.
He has a classic calisthenics-hybrid athlete’s physique, a well-toned body with a good chunk of mass.
About:
Typically known from his YouTube tutorials, Chris Heria is the first calisthenics athlete Google will recommend. He has always been passionate about Calisthenics – mostly because of his upbringing in Miami, which meant he spent lots of time outdoors and being active.

Hannibal Tyron Lanham
Proving that age is only an excuse: Hannibal Tyron Lanham, better known as Hannibal for King.Â
He has one of the broadest sets of lats we’ve seen, which gives him an apparent Dorrito-shaped body. No doubt he got this from the countless pull-ups over time.
Arguably, one of his most noticeable features is the size of his arms – specifically his bicep and triceps. They constantly looked pumped up and are recognizable in all his photos. It’s incredible to see someone with chunky arms be able to perform some of the most athletic stunts.
He’s also one of the most veiniest on the list. This can come down to his super low body fat, though it could just be genetics. The one popping out the most runs through his bicep; some find it icky, but the majority find it applaudable.
About:
Hannibal Tyron Lanham is a legend in the calisthenics industry. His influence began in June 2008 when his friend posted him to YouTube, but he was training years before. He’s the Steve Jobs of the fitness world – he didn’t invent calisthenics but innovated it!

Ian Chirtoaca
Known for his smooth muscle-ups, Ian is definitely up there with one of the best calisthenics physiques, which is impressive considering he’s a 6″2 heavyweight!
We aren’t sure what is more impressive, his back gains or the front. Ian has one of the most defined upper backs, to the point where you can see his muscle fibers. In good lighting, you can see his ‘Christmas tree‘ on his lower back, indicating the immense work he has put in at a young age.
He has well-proportioned abs, too; they’re straight and clearly show his six-pack. However, this isn’t surprising considering his passion for nutritional dieting.
Ian is often recognized wearing a white vest. While it hides his back and abs, it shines light on the size of his deltoids. They’re perfectly round and are a great example of the rewards from bar exercises.
About
After moving to London, Ian quickly found a calisthenics park and used it as a social and physical tool. He had always been into bodyweight exercises (following in his dad’s footsteps), so he had a solid foundation to work with.

Austin Dunham
Someone who has been on the scene for a while but recently gained popularity is social media star Austin Dunham.
Often compared with a boxing/ bodybuilding physique, Austin is proud of his calisthenics background – one of his favorite exercises is the planche. He also promotes his online bodyweight exercise tips, tutorials, and favorites online for people to share.
Austin has a similar body to Michael B Jordan in the Creed movies: big arms, chest, and shoulders. The first muscle group you’ll notice will be his chest due to its size and symmetry.
While he isn’t as ripped as other athletes on this list, he still has defined abs and broad lats commonly shared with other calisthenics stars.
Another distinctive feature of Austin is his trapezius muscles. While these are unlikely from bodyweight exercises, they are proportioned well and suit his bigger build.

Vadym Oleynik
Praised for his motivational and educational content, we have another Eastern European athlete: Vadym Oleynik.
Vadym has the perfect body of what happens when you combine cross-fit, weightlifting, powerlifting, and calisthenics exercises. By keeping super active, he has a very low body fat percentage; plus, the immense tension he puts his muscles under forms a chiseled body frame with meaty muscles.
His low body fat levels are also reflected by his iconic V-Cut weist – which grows into his well-defined abs and obliques. His best features are his abdominals. Not only are they well-toned, but they pop out as if they were constantly contracted!
His muscles are compact and much tighter than those of other candidates on the list. While this is arguably down to genetics, he has one of the most sought-after body types.
Vadym has an extraordinarily thick and muscular back. It’s most noticeable when comparing the size of his upper body with his lower-middle back.

He has a perfect body example of what a good calisthenics program and dieting rewards you with. He has one of the lowest body fat percentages on this list, to the point where you can sometimes see his muscle fibers!
Due to his low body fat, Frank has one of the best six-packs and obliques. They have been conditioned and are apparent – even without a pump.
Frank doesn’t show to do much weight lifting, so he has a smaller frame than others. We call this a ‘sleeper-build‘ because you wouldn’t notice his body until he takes his top off!
Frank has a similar body type to an elite-level athlete, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, though he will have broader shoulders from using parallel and pull-up bars.

Andrea Larosa
One of the people’s favourites: Andrea Larosa. We don’t know if it’s because he competed in Italia’s Got Talent or his likable personality, but he’s looked up to by many.
Andrea Larosa is another award-winning athlete, so it’s no surprise his physiques made it to this list. At first glance, his broad shoulders and pinched waist are most noticeable – giving him that classic “Dorrito” look.
Andrea has evidently spent lots of time working his chest, and it’s paid off! It’s tight and sits firmly on his chest. While it doesn’t pop out as much as other athletes, the composition suits his body type and is symmetrical to the rest of his upper muscles.
His abs sit high, so some suggest it looks more than an eight-pack! Nonetheless, they’re one of his most defined features and portray a typical calisthenic body.
Andrea has one of the best arms on the list, specifically his deltoids. He often has a vein running through this area – making him look like a superhero! However, he mentioned a shoulder injury in 2017, leading him to use weights for stability exercises.

Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee? The Hong Kong-American martial artist? Yep, that’s him.
Bruce Lee incorporated numerous bodyweight exercises into his martial arts training. While he was known more commonly for his self-defense ability, the calisthenics community recognized his body type and movements similar to that of their own.
Bruce Lee had one of the broadest lats in Hollywood history. Some would compare them to a bird’s wings. He had the ultimate upside-down triangle body when he flared out his lats; they were so expansive, yet his waistline was so thin.
To help with his martial arts, Bruce Lee avoided heavy weight lifting, which is why he has a smaller body type. Nonetheless, he conditioned his body thoroughly, minimizing his fat levels and maximizing his strength.
Even without the makeup, Bruce Lee’s muscle definition was superb. So, more often than not, you could see his fibers – especially in his chest.
Bruce Lee also had relatively thick forearms. This would have been from his martial arts training, where he needed definite grip strength.
About:
Bruce Lee was a movie sensation but also an exceptional athlete. He has made around 37 movie appearances and encouraged many young adults to get into martial arts.
Name | Li Jun Fan |
Date Of Birth | 27 November 1940 (unfortunately, he has passed.) |

Daniel Hristov
Last, but certainly not least, we have a world-class competitor: Daniel Hristov. In recent years, he has been pursuing his passion for street workout calisthenics and has won several awards.
One of Daniels’s best features is the thickness of his abdominals. While the length is mostly determined by genetics; his intense training and hard work have made them pop out and become a distinct feature. This is evidenced by the numerous photos of him holding a planche.
Coupled with his abdominals are his obliques, which are as muscular as his six-pack. It’s clear Daniel does a variety of rotational core movements.
His biceps are one of his most defined features; often found with a few veins popping out of them! This is likely a result of the exercises he does on parallel bars or the floor.
Daniel has a well-structured inner chest too. Once again, it’s likely this is from his bar and floor work.
About:
Daniel is a Bulgarian calisthenics athlete who is an inspiration to many. He has a background in gymnastics but wanted a career in calisthenics. After suffering from a life-changing head injury, he has still managed to return to the sport and win numerous competitions.
